A new bronze statue has been unveiled in Carlisle - Cracker Packers.
This work by Hazel Reeves depicts biscuit packers, one represents the long-gone Carr factory and the other the present McVitie factory. The sculpture celebrates the lives, friendships and work of the many women who packed biscuits and crackers.
Bronze, a copper alloy, has long been used for statuary. There are many examples in the towns and cities of the World. The metal can be cast with great detail and the colour ages so beautifully.
